Authorizing Sync Engine to Work with Your Data (Sync Activation)¶
Note that users’ login, email, or CRM data transferred over LinkPoint Connect(ME) Sync is secured and is never shared with any third parties or kept on a persistent storage, according to our Privacy and Security principles.
Tip
Many Enterprise customers ensure that LinkPoint Connect(ME) Sync is mass-activated for the end users by the local Admin, so no extra setup actions are required from them. See this article for more information on LPC mass deployment scenarios
Tip
In most configurations, if LPC Sync stops due to an error, the end users or the Admin user get a notification email with instructions how to re-enable it

Important
If you are using several different email boxes for your correspondence (not aliases), make sure to authorize LPC Sync data access for the same email box as one for which you installed the Add-In, otherwise the Sync engine functions will work incorrectly even though LPC Sync will appear to be running
Activate LPC Sync for MS Exchange¶
Specifically, the end users need to activate LinkPoint Connect(ME) Synchronization in the following cases:
- on the first start via the corresponding dialog, if LPC Sync was not mass-activated by the local Admin, for example because Impersonated access cannot be used in your MS Exchange configuration
- in case LPC Sync’s mailbox authorization expired or your mailbox password was changed
- if you notice that LinkPoint Connect(ME) functions performed by LPC Sync are not carried out and Sync is not paused or suspended due to an error
- the corresponding dialog also appears automatically in the Sidebar if 6 consequential LPC synchronization attempts get rejected by your email server
To (re)activate your LPC Sync, enter your Exchange mailbox’s Login and Password and click Connect to Exchange.
In some configurations, you may also need to enter a valid Exchange Web Services link specific for your company’s Exchange configuration. To do that, click the More v button and paste the EWS link provided by your local Exchange Admin into the field.
Important
Note that if Sync activation is skipped, a number of key LinkPoint Connect(ME) features performed by LPC Synchronization will be unavailable.
Activate LPC Sync for Office 365¶
Follow the steps below to do that
1. Open LPC Sync settings: in LinkPoint Connect(ME) Sidebar, click the ☰ (Menu) button in the upper left corner and select Set up sync (or Sync settings) in the Menu that appears
2. If needed, enter your Office 365 login credentials in the O365 OAuth 2.0 dialog that appears
Next, Office 365 will request your confirmation; click Accept in this dialog to complete Sync activation. Your email data accessed by LinkPoint Connect(ME) Sync engine remains all secure and private, under our Privacy & Security principles.
After access has been authorized, LPC Sync will start running every 30 minutes 24/7 for this email account.
To pause LPC Sync, follow this instruction.
Or, in case you need to deactivate LPC Sync, follow this instruction.
Note
When you open the LinkPoint Connect(ME) Add-In for the first time and log in with your Salesforce credentials, the solution automatically starts using these credentials in Sync settings to connect your mailbox to Salesforce and starts the synchronization process.
You may update both Exchange and Salesforce accounts in sync settings at any point later. Refer to this article to learn how
